Ever wondered how power lines are maintained?

THis project involved the development of Carbon Fiber Booms that held a VERTICAL SAW operated by a Heliwest's Helicopters to trim branches that could affect power lines.
The pre-preg carbon fiber booms were 45% lighter than the equivalent aluminum ones, stiffer and smaller in diameter.
They were designed for the toughest conditions and environments, operating at high and low temperatures all year round.
The booms frequently took hits and in case of entanglement at the SAW, the whole rig can be released to avoid losing the Helicopter.
Six years later they are still performing as the first day.
